Ok, I was a kid back then, and 30 years later, it's pretty clear I could have or should have regarded it as some sort of sign that Mr. Cheerful salesman had rushed me out with the Vega so fast he actually forgot to take the money for it. Of course, if I would have known then what I would soon learn, I would have left the gas station with the car, five dollars worth of gas(almost half a tank!) ---and the 222.00 snugly in my pocket!
This is the easiest way to sell a car. You will have to dismantle your car if the junkyard dealer asks you to. He may only be interested only in the metal body. So you will have to tear off the car yourself.
salvage yards make money in three ways. They sell all of their left over parts and bodies for scrap iron. This makes them a little money after they have milked the used and often wrecked car dry. Salvage yards specialize in used auto body parts. Fenders, bumpers, doors, etc. are great money makers for these businesses. They also make good choices for repairs when you are trying to save money.
Order copper, brass, sterling silver or gold filled sheet from a company like Rio Grande or Indian Jewelry Supplies. A resourceful crafter may also find usable pieces of copper or brass at a local scrap yard. If you make blanks yourself, you'll need a manual hole punch or drill to add holes.
The next step was to add top soil to the bed. The rocks were much taller than the railroad ties so in order to keep the flowers from getting lost we needed to raise the existing bed of soil. After this was accomplished we enhanced the existing shrubs with fresh brown mulch. The brown against the natural rocks really brought the natural look to the flower bed which is exactly what I was hoping for. We added a few flats of flowers and the look was complete. It was so inexpensive for such a grand new look.
But how do you know its value? Here is a basic guide. Scrap value is the absolute minimum you should sell for gold. The reason that increases value above scrap are: 1. workmanship. A gold necklace is more valuable as jewelry since it has a jeweler labor cost included. 2. Makers marks. Signed pieces add value. 3. Antique value. See an antique dealer if it is an older piece with character. Any stones have value aside from the gold in it. If sending the gold to a metal dealer have a jeweler remove the stones and sell them in a separate transaction, not as scrap.
With the modern electronics that are installed on all cars today, electronics are getting more popular on the used market. The problem with buying these used is that they often have been sitting in less than ideal conditions for times lasting from a few weeks to possibly a year or more. Being exposed to the moisture and poor conditions can erode this delicate equipment.
While your junk car may no longer be suitable for driving, its working parts and metal body still has value. junkyards would pay for a good price for car parts they can resell and scrap metals. This means the more functional parts your old car has, the more you can sell. If your old car no longer starts, junkyards can come to your house and pick it up.
You can improve your finances by paying off excessive credit card debt. Start by paying off your smallest balance first, then add the extra money from that monthly payment to paying off the next smallest. Before long, you will be adding so much to your largest balance, you will be able to pay it back in no time!
